A recent study shows that sex actually gets better with age. Good to know! But as I read through this article, it jumped out at me right away:
"Beckman and colleagues interviewed four groups of 70-year-olds in Sweden about their sex lives between 1971 and 2001. They found that 68 percent of married men said they were having sex in 2001, up from 52 percent in the early '70s.
The number of married women having sex rose to 54 percent in the group interviewed in 2000-2001, up from 30 percent in the early 70s.
And 12 percent of unmarried women interviewed in 2000-2001 said they were having sex, up from less than 1 percent in the early '70s. The number of women reporting high sexual satisfaction also increased, with more women reporting an orgasm during sex and fewer reporting never having had one."
Well, SUPER yay! for that last part, but, um....68% married men and 54% married women? Who exactly are the other 14% of geezer married men having nookie time with?? The 12% of geriatric unmarried women???
This article turned from "YAY!" to "Screw it, why do I even try to believe in fidelity anymore" in an instant. It never changes, does it?
Why can't men be faithful??? I know, I know, there are the chosen few out there who can be. But most of them? NO. Clearly not! It's right there in print. It's there in everyday life. It's there in relationships I've had first or second or third had knowledge of....it's all there...no denying it.
It makes me not ever want to fall in love again. I am 110% built for long term faithfulness and it appears I'm going to live a long and lonely if not constantly crushed and forlorned life.....
Yay for me.
