The Wild, Wild (mid-) West
A few days ago, they found (and unfortunately had to kill) a wild cougar that was roaming the Chicago suburbs. In the days that have followed, there have been additional cougar sitings, and they believe another wild one is tromping around here. Fabulous! Cougars eat people. And I was worried about the coyotes getting another one of my dogs. Fantastic!
This morning, the midwest experienced a 5.0+ earthquake along the country's biggest fault line (the New Madrid). For years, I've been telling my best friend from high school, who moved to L.A. years ago, that I'd never move there because I am terrified of earthquakes. This morning, I learn that if and when the New Madrid plates shift, it's going to make California quakes look like silly puddy. Fabulous!
For the record, I didn't feel anything. Everyone at work claims they woke up, felt it, saw things on the tables and walls move....all I have is a vague memory of telling my dog to LAY DOWN because he was standing on the bed and waking me up and it was too early to pee....whooops! Well, apparantly if I'm going to die, I'll just sleep through it. This is reassuring.
Most upseting of all of this? I whacked my knee on my desk this morning. It's still throbbing, over an hour later. Can't imagine what color its turning under my pants.
The midwest is very dangerous. Don't you forget it.

Your dog was trying to tell you it was going to happen!!! LOL. Good doggie!
I would move to LA before moving to the midwest...tornados, draughts, no mountains and now this? Heck no!
I slept through all the major hurricanes so don't feel too bad. The roof could have blown away or worse yet, fallen in and crushed and I would have died in my sleep none the wiser.
Maybe it's time to move to LA after all.
It woke us up! I couldn't believe it at first... just thought I was dreaming. It was crazy!!
There are wild cougars running around in Sacramento too, but we love them here lol.
Awww it didn't post picture
you have COUGARS? in the suburbs? that is insane..well, i guess in the Northern Territory of Australia you get crocodiles in swimming pools, so i guess thats similar.
we get earth quakes here in Dunedin, i always wake up to them and wonder if i've been smoking too much pot lol
