I'm Younger than Me.
So I took this test....
After a series of questions, it basically calculates what your ACTUAL age is in terms of your body.
The awesome news is that according to their calculations, I am actually six years younger than I actually am. This is good news. I know I have a lot of good habits (like flossing, don't smoke, wear seatbelt, etc)....but after the test is done, you get a list of the things that would help you if you wanted to improve your body and keep it even younger. (You also get a list of the good things you're doing.)
So here is what it says is making me OLDER:
Low vegetable intake
Low unsaturated fat
Workout schedule
Potassium levels
Low grain intake
Low omega-3 intake
Blood pressure control
Calcium intake
Vitamin E intake
Vitamin C intake
Social network and stress
Strength training levelIt's primarily my diet (ha). I find it ironic that eating less is making me older...(haven't they done studies that low calorie diets actually increase lifespan?) But maybe I am reading it wrong and it is more WHAT I am eating, not how much. I must not be getting my nutrients, apparantly. Also, I work out 5-6 times a week. Fairly intensely. This is making me older?? Hmmf... Now, this test was highlighted on the Today show where they had a bunch of doctors on, blah blah, so it's supposed to be a pretty good test as far as these things go - not just some random flukie quiz thingy. (and there are a lot of questions you have to go through...takes like 5-10 mins).
Nonetheless.... I like this site. After you do the test, you get weekly emails with suggestions, and the site itself has a lot of really good useful and healthful information.
The thing I liked best about it is that it's not food centralized....its about all around well being, so it doesn't feel like I am being "watched" or "judged" (in my head) for what I eat, rather I feel it has a lot of things that I would like to change/apply to my life.
Anyhow, I thought it was cool....maybe you will too.
PS...here's the list of things making me younger...(my good habits)
Flexibility routine (Pilates is my best friend)
Limited or no secondhand smoke exposure
Parents relationship
Daily vitamin (religiously)
Correct fruit servings (LOL, it's all those PRUNES)
Healthy resting heart rate
Flossing habits (I'm obsessive)Folic acid intake
Breast cancer history (none in my family)
Cell phone use (I hate people who talk on them in their car, so I rarely do)
Safe driving speeds
Vehicle size (I have an SUV)
Safety belt or airbag usage
Nonsmoker
Daily breakfast (I always have oatmeal....filling, heathy, metabolism revver...)
Diverse diet
No ovarian cancer in family

Thanks for the comment! you honestly don't know how many times I feel like I'm alone in this. And your comment just made me smile and remember that I'm not. So many times I want to quit but then I realize that then I would have done all that work for nothing. Thanks again!
